UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi took office on1 September 2013.
Dr. Kituyi has an extensive background as an elected official, an academic, and a holder of high government office.
He also has wide-ranging experience in trade negotiations, and in African and broader international economics and diplomacy.

Many of the world’s poorer countries have improved their debt balances in recent years, but “this positive trend is now sputtering,” UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi told a debt-management conference this morning.
