No growth for commercial services exports in the second quarter of 2012 23 Oct -
According to preliminary estimates by the WTO and UNCTAD, in the second quarter of 2012, world exports of commercial services (balance-of-payments basis, current prices) recorded zero growth as compared with the same quarter of the last year, following the declining pattern of growth observed during the last four quarters.

UNCTAD has held a meeting of the United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity with the Permanent Mission of Myanmar in Geneva. The post of Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) will become vacant in June 2013 upon the completion of the term of the incumbent. Based on a joint recommendation by the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the new Executive Director will be appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The Director of UNCTAD’s Division on Investment and Enterprise, Mr. James Zhan, has been in Istanbul this week to present the Division's recent Entrepreneurship Policy Framework (EPF) to a ministerial session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Mr. Zhan was invited to speak about small and medium-sized enterprise development and policy options to increase the competitiveness of SMEs, particularly in OIC member States.
