Division on Technology and Logistics

The division seeks to strengthen inclusive growth and development through science, technology and innovation, including information and communications technology for development; efficient, resilient and sustainable trade logistics services; and training and capacity-building programmes.

It hosts the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development and implements ASYCUDA, UNCTAD’s largest technical cooperation programme.

Shamika N. Sirimanne, Director

Biography

Shamika N. Sirimanne

Shamika N. Sirimanne is the director of UNCTAD’s division on technology and logistics.

She also serves as the head of the secretariat of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development.

Ms. Sirimanne has extensive experience in development policy, research and technical cooperation gained from international organizations, national governments, think tanks and universities.

Previously, she served as a director at the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and led the economic policy team at the UN Economic Commission for Africa. She also worked for the Canadian Department of Finance and the World Bank.

She holds a PhD degree in economics.
