Public-private partnerships can play an important role in ensuring that participation in global supply chains is conducive to the sustainable growth and development of developing countries and the building of the local supply capacity by developing countries' small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to engage and scale up in these chains.
The meeting will identify ways and means in which public-private partnerships in developing countries can help build local supply capacity and establish linkages between local producers and global supply chains, in particular in the agriculture and commodities sectors, with a view to learning policy lessons.
It is expected that the meeting will identify best practices in addressing the challenges and difficulties faced by SMEs in developing countries, in particular in the agriculture and commodities sectors.
This will help policymakers design related policies and programmes in developing countries.
Contributed papers All experts are encouraged to prepare and submit brief papers related to one or more of the issues contained in the provisional meeting agenda, as well as those relating to their country's experience in increasing the participation of SMEs in global value chains. These papers will be made available to the meeting in the form and language in which they are received. |
