Workshop on Climate Change Reporting

16 March 2012
13:00 - 12:59 hrs. Palais des Nations, E-building, Room XXV
Geneva
, Switzerland

UNCTAD, in collaboration with the OECD, CDSB and GRI, is working to take stock of current corporate climate change reporting frameworks and assess the benefits of greater consistency of approach to the demand for, and supply of, corporate climate change-related information.
It is an opportune moment to share information and compare reporting programmes, as climate change disclosure is still developing, and countries are not yet completely locked into a specific regulatory path.
The joint workshop will focus on:
  • Providing information, evidence and resources to support greater understanding of the policies, initiatives and practices that currently lead to the demand for and supply of climate change related information.

  • Identify the main problems linked to the current lack of consistency of climate change disclosure systems.

  • Assess the benefits of greater consistency.

  • Pave the way for further discussions on consistency in the demand for and supply of climate change related information.
This interactive workshop will allow participants to weigh in on the evolution of climate change reporting policies. Inputs gathered at this meeting will inform a new joint UNCTAD, OECD, CDSB, GRI report to be launched on the eve of the Rio+20 Earth Summit in June 2012.
