Informal meeting of the Trade and Development Board: Evolution of the international trading system and its trends from a development perspective

The Trade and Development Board will deliberate on recent trends in international trade flows in goods and services; important developments in the international trading system and trade policy; and the contribution that international trade can make to address the eradication of poverty within the context of sustainable development in the framework of the post-2015 United Nations development agenda.

In the morning session under item 7, the Board will discuss the contribution that international trade can make to address the eradication of poverty and pursue sustainable development in the framework of the post-2015 United Nations development agenda.

In the afternoon session under item 7, the Board will deliberate on key developments in the international trading system and trade policies, identifying actions to address twenty-first century issues. The Board will examine ways for achieving policy coherence, including through strengthened cooperation. This session will also offer the opportunity for the recently appointed heads of UNCTAD, the World Trade Organization and the International Trade Centre to share their visions of the future work of their respective organizations, as well as the possible synergies and cooperation among them.
