UNCTAD and the journey to inclusive multilateralism

How can UNCTAD contribute to building a broader multilateral agenda? The fiftieth anniversary is an opportunity to take stock of how and where UNCTAD has made a difference and to look at its role in the current development landscape. The author will provide his view presenting his volume on the history of the organization and of its three institutional engines - research and analysis, consensus-building and technical cooperation. Three of the UNCTAD intellectual fathers will also offer their thoughts on the past and the future of the organization.

THE CHALLENGES AHEAD
Prebisch Round Table

The challenges facing all countries are, if anything, even tougher today than they were 50 years ago. No country, and certainly not developing countries or countries in transition, can hope to meet these goals, targets and threats alone. Development cooperation and international action are as essential as ever. The moderated debate will discuss the key challenges faced by the international community and the strategies to meet them among some of the key figures in current development debate.
