Meeting of the Joint Advisory Group on the International Trade Centre, 48th session

The forty-eighth annual meeting of the Joint Advisory Group on the International Trade Centre will be held from 11 to 12 June 2014 at the World Trade Organization (WTO), in Geneva, starting at 10 a.m. on 11 June in Room CRI.

Members of the Joint Advisory Group are informed that the International Trade Centre is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2014, which coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The Joint Advisory Group will examine the activities of the International Trade Centre and make recommendations to the Trade and Development Board of UNCTAD and the General Council of WTO.

Discussions will focus on the Annual Report on the activities of the International Trade Centre in 2013. One session will be set aside for a presentation on the results of the independent evaluation of the International Trade Centre and a discussion on the Centre's management response to the recommendations of the evaluation.

There will also be a discussion concerning preparations for the Strategic Plan 2015-2017. An opportunity will be provided for the announcement of donor contributions to International Trade Centre for 2015 and beyond.

The Group will have before it the following documentation for its consideration:

2. Annual Report 2013 on the activities of the International Trade Centre (ITC/AG(XLVIII)/254)

Governments of the member States of UNCTAD and members of WTO are invited to send representatives to this meeting. It is recommended that this representation be at the level of senior officials involved in the development of foreign trade or on trade promotion.

The meeting is open to United Nations specialized agencies and bodies and to other intergovernmental organizations with observer status and to non-governmental organizations having an interest in trade promotion.
