The year 2014 has been designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The celebrations will peak with an international conference on SIDS to be held in Samoa in September.

Representatives of SIDS in Geneva plan to contribute to marking this important year by hosting a seminar and round table on Friday, 20 June 2014. The events will be held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Though the topics will be presented from a SIDS perspective, the issues of vulnerability debt, tourism sustainability and ocean economy are of general interest to all member States.
