High-level meeting to present Investment Promotion Strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina

Key Issues

The high-level meeting for the presentation of the UNCTAD Investment Promotion Strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened by the country´s Chairman of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister), Mr. Adnan Terzi, and was attended by senior-level government officials from the country´s two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and the Republic of Srpska, and by representatives of international and multilateral organizations. The meeting was held in Sarajevo on 10 November 2004.

The meeting recommended the establishment of a working group at the highest level of government to study and implement recommendations made in the advisory report. The workshop was closely followed by local media, including newspapers, radio and television.

From 11 to 12 November 2004, UNCTAD/ASIT held a workshop on "Third Generation of Investment Promotion", which was subsequently held at FIPA offices. The workshop was attended by officials from government agencies and ministries dealing with foreign investors, including FIPA, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, and regional development agencies. The programme included sessions and presentations on image building in a post-conflict situation; establishing a one-stop-shop service centre; strategic planning for IPAs; investor targeting; and corporate development support.
