Key Issues

In the context of UNCTAD´s assistance to Least Developed Countries, the Bangladeshi authorities have requested the local office of UNDP to organize various workshops to train Bangladeshi diplomats and trade and legal officials.

This fourth event of the assistance programme will address ways in which bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements may be used to promote development.

Among other issues, the workshop will focus in particular on:

  • Introduction and background to bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements

  • Multilateral trading system: Quest for the development dimension

  • Trends and the development dimension of bilateral and regional trade agreements

  • Participation of Bangladesh in bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements

  • Development dimension of bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements: Future scenarios and their implications for Bangladesh

Along with the other activities scheduled within this assistance programme, this workshop will contribute to the capacity of Bangladesh to negotiate international trade agreements.
