Key Issues

The increasing role of large developing countries in global trade, finance and investment has generated interest in South-South Cooperation and how it could be used to foster growth and development in Africa.

The aim of the seminar is to exchange views and ideas with the Chinese community on the scale and patterns of economic cooperation between China and Africa and how the evolving partnership could be enhanced and managed for equitable development.

The seminar will also provide an opportunity for UNCTAD to discuss the main findings of the 2010 Economic Development in Africa Report under the theme "South-South Cooperation: Africa and the New Forms of Development Partnership."

The seminar will be attended by high-level government officials as well as representatives of the private sector, civil society and international organizations.
