Key Issues


The Forum offers participants a series of diverse interactions, including high-level debates addressing critical issues to the WSIS implementation and follow-up in multi-stakeholder set-ups, WSIS Action Line facilitation meetings, thematic workshops, and speed-exchanges facilitating networking among the participants.

16 May, 9:30 - Opening Ceremony

With participation of Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary General of UNCTAD.

17 May, 14:30-18:00 - UNCTAD and ITU session on Measuring the ICT sector for policy analysis

The session will focus on the measurement of the ICT-producing sector and its importance for policy analysis. It is organized by UNCTAD and ITU (on behalf of the Partnership for Measuring ICT).

18 May, 14:45-16:15 - UNCTAD and ITC event on Mobile money solutions for small enterprises

The session will discuss some of the trends in this area, the challenges, emerging business models and key regulatory issues to maximise the development benefits.

The WSIS Forum will be followed by the annual session of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, scheduled between 23 and 27 May 2011.
