Key Issues

UNCTAD-ISAR is carrying out a number of roundtables in selected countries with a view of pilot testing its new assessment questionnaire. This guiding tool aims at evaluating the current status of the country in relation to the required accounting infrastructure for producing high quality corporate reporting. The fourth roundtable will take place on Friday, 17 June in Zagreb (Croatia).

UNCTAD´s objective is to provide a practical guidance tool to assist countries in identifying priority areas for further capacity-building and technical assistance when needed. Based on international benchmarks and good national practices, the UNCTAD tool covers financial and non-financial aspects of corporate reporting, including environmental issues, corporate social responsibility, and corporate governance disclosure.

Target participants include decision makers, regulators, standard-setters, report preparers and users, academia and training institutions, and other relevant stakeholders in the area of accounting and reporting.

Findings and lessons learned from these roundtables will be shared during the twenty-eighth session of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR), 12-14 October 2011, in Geneva.
