The World Investment Forum (WIF)
is a high-level, biennial, multi-stakeholder gathering that is designed to facilitate dialogue and action on the world’s key emerging investment-related challenges.
The first edition of the WIF was held on the occasion of the UNCTAD XIII conference in Accra, Ghana, from 18 to 22 April 2008 bringing together 650 participants from across the world.
In just two years WIF 2010 has become one of the world’s leading international investment events, attracting over 1,800 participants from 120 countries including Heads of State and ministers, global CEOs, heads of international organizations and civil society.
World Investment Forum 2012, hosted by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in partnership with Government of Qatar, will take place in Qatar National Convention Centre, on 20-22 April 2012 in conjunction with UNCTAD XIII Ministerial Conference (21-26 April 2012) in Doha, Qatar.
Like the 2010 Forum, WIF 2012 will provide opportunities to interact with global leaders, senior policy-makers, corporate executives, investors and heads of investment promotion agencies from countries around the world.
WIF 2012 will focus on the role of investment in the new development paradigm of reinvigorated industrial policies, increased South-South cooperation and inclusive and low-carbon growth models.
It will address investment-related challenges and opportunities arising from emerging global economic governance structures, and contribute to developing partnerships and policy options for promoting sustainable investment.
