Notification

The Expert Meeting on the Impact of Changing Supply-and-demand Market Structures on Commodity Prices and Exports of Major Interest to Developing Countries will be held from 7 to 9 July 1999. The Meeting will open at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 7 July 1999.

The provisional agenda, together with the secretariat´s annotations thereto, will be circulated as document TD/B/COM.1/EM.10/1. In addition, a report on the substantive agenda item will be circulated as document TD/B/COM.1/EM.10/2.

Member States are requested to nominate experts, who will participate in the Meeting in their personal capacities. Experts are expected to have proven expertise in the subject, and may be selected from the academic world, the public and private sectors and NGOs.

With regard to the financing of the participation of developing country experts in UNCTAD expert meetings, attention is drawn to Trade and Development Boarddecision 456 (XLV), the text of which is attached, and in particular to paragraphs 1(a) (ii), 1(b) and 2 of that decision.

States members of UNCTAD wishing to nominate experts to the Meeting are requested to do so by 25 June 1999. Specialized agencies and intergovernmental bodies, should they wish to participate in the Meeting, as well as non-governmental organizations in the General Category and those in the Special Category which wish to participate as observers, are requested to inform the UNCTAD secretariat of the names of their representatives by the same date.
