The fourth session of the Commission on Trade in Goods and Services, and Commodities, scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 September 1999, will now be held from 11 to 14 October 1999 at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. Any inconvenience caused as a result of this postponement is regretted.

The provisional agenda for the session (circulated as document TD/B/COM.1/24) was adopted at the third session of the Commission (28 September - 2 October 1998). The two substantive agenda items are:

Item 3. "Analysis of factors affecting the production and trade of commodities, such as the implications of financial crises, the reasons for and effects of the collapse in commodity prices, and the impact of changing distribution and market structures", and

Item 4. "Analysis of certain service sectors, including analysis of successful experiences in those sectors, particularly those which enhance the export capacity of developing countries (such as professional and business services and access to transport services), including the development implications of electronic commerce".

Under Item 5, "Reports of the subsidiary bodies of the Commission", the Commission will examine the reports of Expert Meetings on Trade in the Agricultural Sector; Air Transport Services; and Commodities.

Membership of the Commission is open to all States members of UNCTAD. States members of UNCTAD wishing to attend the session are requested to provide the Secretary-General of UNCTAD with the credentials of their representatives and the names of their alternate representatives and advisers by 13 September 1999. States which are not members of the Commission are entitled to be represented by observers. Other participants (i.e. the specialized agencies and intergovernmental bodies, as well as non-governmental organizations in the General and Special Categories wishing to participate as observers) are requested to indicate the names of their representatives by the same date.
