On behalf of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and in accordance with the resolution (TD/TIMBER.3/7) adopted on 18 February 2005 at the second part of the United Nations Conference for the Negotiation of a Successor Agreement to the International Tropical Timber Agreement, 1994, the Officer-in-Charge of UNCTAD is convening the third part of the Conference from 27 June to 1 July 2005. The Conference is scheduled to open in room XX at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, at 10 a.m. on Monday, 27 June 2005.
The agenda and annotations are contained in document TD/TIMBER.3/8 and the rules of procedure are contained in document TD/TIMBER.3/2. The Conference will have before it a working document resulting from the second part of the Conference (14-18 February 2005), which has been circulated under the symbol TD/TIMBER.3/L.4.
States members wishing to participate in the third part of the Conference are requested to submit to the UNCTAD secretariat by 3 June 2005 the credentials of their representatives and the names of alternate representatives and advisers who will participate in the Conference.
Specialized agencies and relevant organizations wishing to participate in the Conference as observers are requested to inform the UNCTAD secretariat by the same date of the names of their representatives.
Upon arrival, participants are requested, before entering the Palais des Nations, to collect their badge at the UN Security Service, Villa Les Feuillantines, 13 Avenue de la Paix (close to the main entrance to the Palais on the Place des Nations, on the opposite side of the road). The Security Service is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (non-stop). Because of the security measures in force, participants are strongly advised to arrive before 8.30 a.m. in order to complete procedures and reach the Meeting in good time. Walking from Villa Les Feuillantines to the E-Building (Bâtiment E) of the Palais takes about 10 minutes. Participants are requested to carry a passport or similar national identity card with them. Taxis are not allowed to enter the grounds of the Palais des Nations, and visitors will therefore be dropped off at the requested entrance gates. Furthermore, luggage may not be brought into the buildings unless the Security Service gives special clearance.
