Estimates for 2015 indicate that, for the first time on UNCTAD's record, world seaborne trade volumes exceeded 10 billion tons. Developing countries accounted for the lion's share of both goods loaded (60%) and unloaded (62%) at seaports worldwide. The intra-trade is the trade between members of the same group.
In 2015, the intratrade of developing and developed economies declined by 14 and 11 per cent respectively, while that of transition economies tumbled by 31 per cent.
According to the estimates, China has reached the levels of services imports of the United States, the traditional leader in world services imports and exports. From now, besides total services, UNCTAD publishes quarterly statistics on the main services categories as well.
