The Division focuses on the poorest and most vulnerable developing countries in the world. Specifically, it aims to increase understanding of the development problems of Africa and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), as well as countries with specific geographical impediments, notably Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The Division proposes policies for actions to support inclusive and sustainable development.
Over 90 developing countries fall under the Division's areas of work.
The Permanent Mission of Turkey has informed that the deadline for application to Turkey's Graduate Scholarship Programme for students from least developed countries has been extended to 3 August 2012.
"Harnessing Remittances and Diaspora Knowledge for Productive Capacities in the Least Developed Countries" is the working title and theme of this year's LDC Report currently under preparation by UNCTAD.
