Employment

Since 1964 UNCTAD has been the United Nations leading department in the area of trade and development, promoting sustainable development-friendly integration of developing countries into the world economy.

This, I am proud to say, is being achieved through expert contributions of dedicated and highly-qualified staff to the organization’s research, policy discussions and capacity-building activities.

Therefore, if you are motivated to make a contribution to the trade and development debate and related issues in finance, technology and investment, and are interested in engaging in the search for sustainable solutions to today’s problems in this area, consider joining our team by applying to the open positions available here.

As part of the United Nations Secretariat, UNCTAD employs a recruitment process that is governed by the United Nations staff selection system (Inspira), which publishes a compendium of current job openings within the United Nations Secretariat.

With a view to achieving a more equitable gender balance in the organization, UNCTAD encourages the application of qualified women, particularly to senior-level positions.

For the recruitment to entry-level positions in UNCTAD (P-1/P-2), candidates are selected through the United Nations’ annual national competitive recruitment examination process – the United Nations Young Professional Programme (YPP).
