Hotel Le Meridien
Siem Reap
, Cambodia

UNCTAD, as a world leader in the area of NTM statistics, is expanding and consolidating the data collection in different regions with the cooperation from various partners. UNCTAD and ERIA (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia) have embarked on a joint journey to collect non - tariff measures data in ASEAN countries, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The cooperation between UNCTAD and ERIA produced not only a set of NTM data but as well a research paper analysing the various impacts of these measures in the region.

The Understanding Non-Tariff Measures Training Workshop in Siem Reap is funded by The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), with the aim to improve integration in the region of CLMV (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam). The workshop will bring about government representatives from each of those four countries and provide a comprehensive overview of the NTM classification and data collection approach to policy makers working within the governments.

The training will be provided by staff from the Trade Information Section of the Trade Analysis Branch of the Division on International Trade in Goods and Services, and Commodities of UNCTAD. The training materials and agenda were built on the materials from the annual online training course on NTM and data collection held by UNCTAD. The trainers will also bring to the training course recent and practical case studies based on the data collection and classification of NTM in ASEAN that UNCTAD is currently doing with the cooperation from ERIA.
