Competition law and policy play an important role in the context of intellectual property rights (IPRs), for instance with respect to technology licensing agreements.
The objective of this workshop, which is organized by UNCTAD's Intellectual Property Unit at the request of the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, is to review the interface between IPRs and competition law under multilateral law, Cambodian draft legislation and practice by the Japanese Fair Trade Commission.
The workshop will present foreign case law on the application of competition rules to the abuse of IPRs and will engage participants in a group exercise.
Lessons of the workshop may feed into the design of the Cambodian draft competition legislation.
The workshop will be held in English, with interpretation into Khmer.
