During the second week of COP22 in Morocco, a number of countries will launch a multi-stakeholder mechanism to facilitate collaboration and policy dialogue in the areas of advanced bioenergy and biomaterials, named the Biofuture Platform. The platform follows on the commitments from Rio+20, the SDGs and the Paris Agreement and will serve to promote economic diversification and market expansion in areas that carry positive environmental impact.
The platform includes key countries driving markets and innovation in advanced biofuels and biomaterials, namely Brazil, the United States of America, China, India, Denmark, Italy, Finland and Sweden, among others. A number of international organizations, such as IRENA, SE4ALL, IEA, FAO/GBEP, UNIDO and UNCTAD are supporting this initiative.
