Key Issues

In line with the agreed conclusions adopted by the Intergovernmental Group of Experts at its first session on 18 October 2016, the consultations at the second session will focus on the following topics:

  • Report on national and regional implementation of the United Nations guidelines for consumer protection

  • Legal and institutional framework for consumer protection

  • The protection of vulnerable and disadvantaged consumers

  • Framework for voluntary peer reviews of consumer protection law and policy

  • Consumer protection in e-commerce

  • UNCTAD capacity-building on consumer protection

Written contributions

In order to facilitate deliberations and the informal exchange of experiences and best practices on the topics to be discussed, member States and observers are requested to submit written contributions to the UNCTAD secretariat by Friday, 2 June 2017.
