G20 Consumer Summit

​The first G20 Consumer Summit on "Building a digital world consumers can trust" will take place in Berlin, under the German G20 Presidency and is organized by the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, the Federation of German Consumer Associations (vzbv) and Consumers International (CI), on the date of the celebration of  the World Consumers Rights Day, 15th March.

As consumer protection is a mean of economic growth and social development the G20 Consumer Summit aims to discuss themes such as regulatory framework, fairness, trust, data protection, access to products, to services and to information, safe purchase methods and safe products and services.
In view of its  recent mandate on consumer protection law and policy (UN General Assembly resolution 70/186 of 22 December 2015, which approved the revised United Nations Guidelines on Consume r Protection) UNCTAD's Secretary General, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, will intervene as a speaker in the G20 Consumer Summit.
