Launching of the UNCTAD MENA Programme Consumer Protection Regional Training Centre

​UNCTAD together with the Ministry of Economy and Trade of Lebanon will be launching on 5th April the UNCTAD MENA Programme Consumer Protection Regional Training Centre.

Located in Beirut, Lebanon, the UNCTAD Middle East and North African Consumer Protection Regional Training Center (UNCTAD MENA RTC) is expected to become the focal point for planning, coordinating, and implementing UNCTAD’s capacity development activities in Arabic and French in the MENA region regarding consumer protection, including product safety, risk assessment, e-commerce, financial services, tourism, misleading advertisement, etc.

The Center will begin operations in 2017, providing training services to UNCTAD MENA beneficiary countries (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen).
 
The ceremony will be launched by the Minister of Anticorruption from Lebanon, the Director General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Head of the Competition and Consumer Protection Policies Branch including a red-ribbon ceremony.  More than 100 people will be attending the ceremony including 50 delegates from the other UNCTAD MENA Programme beneficiary countries.
