2017-10-11_logo_400x222.jpgFollowing the adoption of the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection by the General Assembly in resolution 70/186 of 22 December 2015, there is a growing interest among governments, consumer groups, academia and private sector, in their implementation, particularly as they relate to the protection of online consumers.

The Defensoría del Consumidor of El Salvador organized a Conference for UNCTAD to address the protection of online consumers in light of the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection.


The Conference on “E-commerce and the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection” will present the new international legal and institutional framework for protecting online consumers.

UNCTAD will open the Conference presenting the value of the revised United Nations Guidelines from the perspective of public international law, and will introduce the most novel developments relating to e-commerce.
