International Consumer Protection Enforcement Network (ICPEN) Autumn Conference

​The ICPEN 2017 Autumn Conference is hosted by the ICPEN Turkish Presidency. ICPEN is an informal network of consumer protection law enforcement authorities. Non-governmental institutions, including international organizations such as UNCTAD (Competition and Consumer Policies Branch) are observers. ICPEN provides a forum for developing and maintaining regular contact between consumer protection agencies and focusing on consumer protection concerns.

In this ICPEN Conference, participants will discuss the overall topic, “Consumers in Digital Economy: Exploring Risks and Opportunities”, focusing on sharing economy and the challenges it poses on consumers, including vulnerable and disadvantaged consumers.
UNCTAD will speak in the plenary session on "Strengthening stakeholder cooperation on Thursday, 16 November 2017.
 
UNCTAD will also organize a side meeting of the Working Group on E-Commerce (WG) with ICPEN participants. The WG is established by the second session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy in July 2017 to facilitate exchanges of best practices.
