, Lesotho

Within the framework of the project Enhancing capacities of Lesotho to Mainstream Gender in Trade Policy, a national workshop on trade and gender will be held in Maseru, Lesotho, on the 4th of December 2012.

The workshop will provide the opportunity to:

  • present and discuss the main findings of the UNCTAD study "Who is benefiting from trade liberalization in Lesotho? A gender perspective";

  • explore different policy options to make trade a tool for inclusive development in Lesotho.

National workshops on trade and gender aim at sensitizing policy-makers, trade negotiators and other relevant stakeholders to the links between trade and gender, and to encourage the inclusion of gender considerations in trade policy formulation and implementation.

Previous national workshops on trade and gender were held in Thimphu, Bhutan (May 2011) and in Praia, Cape Verde (September 2012).
