UNCTAD to participate at World Bio Markets Brazil 2014

The World Bio Markets Brazil conference will gather a number of leading figures in the international biofuel industry, as well as policy makers and civil society actively engaged in the sector. The event will seek to seeks to bring different perspectives on recent development trends in biofuels markets.

UNCTAD_DITC_TED_2013_0 COUV_advance-copySM.jpgUNCTAD will participate in the event stream "Enabling domestic and international trade", bringing insights on important aspects of bioenergy development for countries which are entering this market. UNCTAD's presentation will be based on its upcoming report entitled: The State of the Biofuels Market: Regulatory, Trade and Development Perspectives (2014).

The report follows attached to this as an advance version, and represents an update of UNCTAD's first report on the theme published in 2006. The publication gathers recent information on international biofuel markets, formulating constructive views and proposals on how to reconcile biofuels expansion with food security, and environmental sustainability objectives, while at the same time allowing for technological progress to take place in a manner that does not exclude developing countries from this growing market.
