10th General Assembly of the Global Network of Eximbanks and Development Finance Institutions (DFI), and workshop on South/South cooperation and Post-2015 Development Agenda: initiatives and challenges for trade flows

​The 10th annual General Assembly of the Global Network of Eximbanks and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) G-NEXID will be held in Geneva, on 19th May, 2015. The General Assembly will be followed by a workshop on South/South cooperation and Post-2015 Development Agenda: initiatives and challenges for trade flows. The event will be open by the President of G-NEXID, Rubens Amaral, CEO of BLADEX, and the Secretary General of UNCTAD (to be confirmed).

UNCTAD will address the Post-2015 development agenda and the means of implementation; South-South development finance. The Eximbank of INDIA will update on the BRICS’ initiatives; WTO will brief on the threats and challenges of trade finance and regulatory issues, and ITC will present their work on trade data.
The meeting is expected to contribute to the forthcoming Financing for Development Conference to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (13 – 16 July, 2015).

The G-NEXID Focal Group members regularly meet to discuss substantive and organizational issues. This shows how Eximbanks and DFIs from very distant locations discuss ways of promoting South – South cooperation and discuss cross financing and project participation.

Participants to the meeting include representatives from Afreximbank, BLADEX, Development Bank of Latin America – CAF –, Eximbank INDIA, Nigerian Export-Import Bank, PTA Bank Development Bank of Zambia, Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), the Saudi Export Programme, and UNCTAD as an Observer.
