The national dialogue for Guatemala will be the fifth national dialogue organized in the context of the joint UNCTAD/ICTSD Project on Intellectual Property Rights and Sustainable Development.

The main objectives of the dialogue will be to:

• review recent developments in the area of IPRs on the multilateral, regional and bilateral level;
  
  
• discuss the use of IPRs as well as alternative tools for the promotion of technological innovation;
  
  
• explore the remaining flexibilities of IPR implementation under regional and bilateral trade agreements; and
  
  
• provide a platform for national IPR stakeholders to establish networks and strategic partnerships.
