Key Issues

UNCTAD is implementing a project on intellectual property rights and pharmaceutical production in least developed countries. The project is funded by the Government of Germany, which has invited UNCTAD to attend this meeting in Arusha to prepare for the subsequent workshop in Moshi/Tanzania.

The purpose of the meeting is, inter alia, to discuss a strategy for the workshop and to clarify the contributiion of each of the participating agencies to both the workshop and the broader project.

UNCTAD will be represented by Mr. Christoph Spennemann, Legal Expert, DITE. Other agencies represented at the preparatory meeting will include the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ); the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ); the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW); and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
