The panel will address the following two priority themes:

Theme I: which is related to the Commission´s mandate to assist the Economic and Social Council in the follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS):

• Measuring the impact of information and communications technologies for development.

Theme II: which is related to the Commission´s traditional mandate on science and technology:

• Technologies to address challenges in areas such as agriculture and water.

In addition, the panel will address the follow-up to WSIS.

Findings and recommendations of the panel will be considered at the 14th session of the CSTD, to be held in May 2011.
