Regional Workshop on multilateral trade and Enhanced Integrated Framework in French-speaking LDCs

Key Issues

Following the request of five French-speaking LDCs, and in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), UNCTAD will organize a regional workshop to reinforce the institutional and technical capacities of those countries in the area of multilateral trade and the EIF.

UNCTAD, the EIF Executive Secretariat, UNDP and UNOPS, as well as experts from the countries participating in the workshop will share their expertise of and experience with the EIF.

The workshop will also address trade-mainstreaming in development plans and strengthening national ownership of the EIF.

Objectives of the workshop:

  • Strengthen technical and institutional capacities of five French-speaking LDCs in the area of trade, based on the research work of UNCTAD, the EIF programme and its guidelines.
  • Share experiences amongst participant countries.
  • Identify best practices and make recommendations on how to assist these countries in further enhancing their EIF processes.
  • Provide tools for fostering national ownership of the EIF.

Participants will include EIF focal points and coordinators from participating countries (Central African Republic, Chad, DRC, Madagascar, Niger) and High-level representatives from Ministries, the private sector and civil society of the DRC.
