UNCTAD Statistics
Statistics is an inherent part of UNCTAD. Being the United Nations' focal point for the integrated treatment of trade and development and the interrelated issues in the areas of finance, technology, investment and sustainable development, UNCTAD compiles, validates and processes a wide range of data collected from national and international sources. Most of the time series cover
long periods, with some dating back to 1948, for
almost all economies of the world.

Developing economies excel in the exportation of textile fibres, yarn, fabrics and clothing
The preliminary data show that developing economies continue to gain global exports shares of textile fibres, yarn, fabrics and clothing (SITC1 codes 26, 65, 84). In 2012 we witness a significant increase of the share of developing economies in the world exports of those goods, standing at 68%, compared to 53% in 1995.

Another interesting observation is an income level among developing economies: the high-income group has lost the global share from 27% in 1995 to 14% in 2012, whereas the middle-income group and low-income group have grew from 18% and 8% in 1995 to 40% and 14% in 2012 respectively. Furthermore, the developed and transition economies reached the global share of 32% in 2012, an all-time-low.
