13 May 11 - Video: Building capacities on sustainable tourism for development
Sustainable tourism is an important tool for economic diversification in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), where tourism is one of the main economic drivers. Enhancing the economic, social and environmental benefits of the tourism sector is a strategy that many LDCs aim to put into place.
To illustrate the challenges involved in implementing this strategy, TrainForTrade has produced a film based on the experiences of a pilot training activity on sustainable tourism for development that was held in Cambodia in February 2011.
TrainForTrade is a programme of UNCTAD´s Division on Technology and Logistics. It assists developing countries in maximizing the benefits of globalization through the development of educational capacities.
