Ambassador Wibowo of Indonesia elected as President of Trade and Development Board

Ambassador Triyono Wibowo of Indonesia has been chosen unanimously as President of UNCTAD's Trade and Development Board, which opened its sixtieth session this morning.

Mr. Wibowo is Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations, World Trade Organization, and other international organizations in Geneva.

He will serve as President of the Trade and Development Board for a year.

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador in Geneva, Mr. Wibowo held a number of posts in Indonesia's diplomatic service, including:

  • Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs (2008-2011)

  • Indonesia's Ambassador in Vienna (2006-2008)

  • Advisor for Administrative and Management Affairs to Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs (2004-2006)

  • Secretary for the Directorate-General for European and American Affairs and Head of the Personnel Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2004)

Mr. Wibowo graduated from the law faculty of the University of Airlangga in 1979, and joined the Indonesian foreign service in 1980.
