Currently issued in four days and 16 steps, the implementation of the online eRegistrations system will see the process for obtaining business licenses drop to one day and 2 steps.

The decision by Lomas de Zamora to request the implementation of eRegistrations with a contribution of US$ 85,000 follows an earlier installation of UNCTAD's eRegulations system in 2011, which triggered a reorganization of the municipal administration and the creation within the municipality's own budget of a new Secretariat of Modernization and Transparency. A contribution of US$ 100,000 had been made for the implementation of the eRegulations system in 2011.

Staffed by 25 civil servants, the Secretariat has been documenting and publishing procedures, identifying opportunities for simplification and replying to users' inquiries. This has led to a vibrant dialogue between the administration and its citizens who increasingly send online complaints and suggestions for simplifying formalities.

It is this same secretariat that will operate eRegistrations once installed.

eRegistrations was initially developed for Central American countries with the financial support of the Government of Luxembourg. It is already operational in El Salvador and will also be installed in Guatemala and Honduras this year.
