Partnership to boost creative and cultural industries in Istanbul

​UNCTAD to work with Istanbul Commerce University to prosper creative economy in Istanbul.

On the occasion of the UNCTAD 50th Anniversary, UNCTAD signed an MOU with the Istanbul Commerce University, to support the creative and cultural industries, through policy oriented- research, workshops to raise the profile and exchange of experiences in the sector and, to facilitate the development of the creative industries network in Istanbul.

This initiative is implemented in association with the International Creative Economy, Cultural industries and Creative Cities Center and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. The MOU was signed by Mr. Petko Draganov, Deputy Secretary General for UNCTAD and by Mr. Nazim Ekren, Rector of Istanbul Commerce University, through Ms. Esin Okay, Director of the International Creative Economy, Cultural industries and Creative Cities Center.

A letter from Mr. Nazim Ekren, Rector of the Istanbul Commerce University was also delivered today addressed to Mr. Mukhisa Kituyi, UNCTAD Secretary General, offering to host an UNCTAD 50 event in the city of Istanbul in autumn this year to continue the celebrations of UNCTAD anniversary.

This cooperation is an important step towards increasing the awareness about the creative sector's potential benefits for both the economy and society.
