Leather Industry Association of South Asia set up after UNCTAD-led regional consultations

The first industry-specific association in South Asia -- the Leather Industry Association of South Asia (LIASA) -- has been initiated following the regional industry consultation organised by UNCTAD in Chennai, India earlier this month.
Kazakhstan Minister thanks UNCTAD for support for landlocked developing countries

H.E. Mr. Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Petko Draganov in Almaty this past Wesnesday and thanked UNCTAD for its long-standing support to landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).

Qatar Minister to address UNCTAD Trade and Development Board

Her Excellency Alya Ahmed Bin Saif Al-Thani, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations in Geneva, has informed that H.E. Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Qatar, will head the Delegation of Qatar to the forthcoming 59th session of the UNCTAD Trade and Development Board which is to begin its two-week deliberations on Monday, 17 September.

Addressing the plenary session today in Manila, the Philippines, of the Asian Development Bank's 20th anniversary celebration of the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation, Dr. Supachai stressed the importance of developmental regionalism for sustained and inclusive growth.
