Peru offers to host UNCTAD XIV in 2016

H.E. Jose Luis Silva Martinot, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, has written to UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi to inform that Peru will be presenting its candidature to host the next UNCTAD quadrennial conference (UNCTAD XIV) in Peru in 2016.

"Geography may pose severe constraints on economic growth and development, but it need not determine a country's destiny," UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Petko Draganov told the Fourth Meeting of Trade Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) in Almaty, Kazakhstan yesterday.
