The UNCTAD secretariat is organizing an information session on “Poverty reduction through trade in Lesotho: An example of inter-agency coordination”.
The session, to be chaired by the Secretary-General of UNCTAD, aims to present and exchange views on:
- The content and the results of the inter-agency programmes in the area of trade and productive capacities, as illustrated by the activities being implemented in Lesotho.
- The recent update of the Diagnostic Trade Integration Study for Lesotho and its role in the national development and poverty reduction strategy.
The session will provide an opportunity for Lesotho’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Cooperatives and Marketing to present Lesotho’s national development priorities and assistance needs regarding trade, investment and related areas.
The session will bring together representatives of the Government of Lesotho and of the Geneva-based Permanent Missions, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Lesotho, development partners, and agencies that are members of the United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity, as well as other key stakeholders.
Representatives of development agencies and non-governmental organizations, and journalists, are welcome.
