The panel will address the following two priority themes:
Theme I, which is related to the Commission´s mandate to assist the Economic and Social Council in the follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS):
- Innovation, research, technology transfer for mutual advantage, entrepreneurship and collaborative development in the information society.
Theme II, which is related to the Commission´s traditional mandate on science and technology:
- Open access, virtual science libraries, geospatial analysis and other complementary ICT and science, technology, engineering and mathematics assets to address development issues, with particular attention to education.
In addition, the panel will address the follow-up to WSIS.
Findings and recommendations of the panel will be considered at the 15th session of the CSTD, to be held in May 2012.
