13 may 2012 - UNCTAD takes chair of UN group on information society
At a meeting convened today during the WSIS Forum 2012 in Geneva, UNCTAD took over the role as Chair of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS). UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi thanked the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and its Secretary-General, Dr Hamadoun Touré, for excellent stewardship of UNGIS during the past 12 months.

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution (A/RES/66/184), the CSTD will hold an open, interactive meeting on enhanced cooperation on public policy issues pertaining to the Internet on 18 May 2012, in Geneva, Switzerland.​
28 jul 2011 - ECOSOC takes note of LDC-IV and extends appreciation for related Turkish initiatives
Upon recommendation of CSTD-14, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) took note of the outcome of the Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC-IV) held in Istanbul in May 2011, and extended its appreciation to the Turkish Government for its initiative to set up an International Science, Technology, and Innovation Center.​
