Global Supply Chain Forum
Transport, logistics and trade facilitation for trade-driven development
UNCTAD and the Government of Barbados have joined forces to organize the inaugural Global Supply Chain Forum at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Bridgetown, Barbados from 21 to 24 May 2024.
This groundbreaking event will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities in global supply chain management.
The forum will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration and the development of innovative strategies to optimize supply chain operations in a rapidly changing global business landscape.
By hosting this forum, Barbados aims to position itself as a hub for supply chain excellence and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the region.
The Global Supply Chain Forum in Barbados promises to be a significant milestone in shaping the future of global trade and logistics.
The four-day event will be held in-person, with selected sessions streamed online.
Interested partners and stakeholders from the public and private sectors are invited to express their interest in participating in, sponsoring or contributing to the event.

Supply Chain Innovation Challenge
The Supply Chain Innovation Challenge is an integral part of the Global Supply Chain Forum scheduled to take place in Bridgetown, Barbados from 21-24 May 2024.
The challenge aimed to leverage participants' collective creativity, inspiring them to suggest innovative solutions to global supply chain operation and how to make them greener, more efficient, and resilient. We received over 75 proposals in two short months!
The winner was announced during a virtual award ceremony on 19th April 2024.
The Innovation Challenge is also a call to action. The wide range of creative and innovative ideas that were shared with us are a further motivation to invest in sustainable and resilient supply chains for future generations

The Bridgetown Covenant (2021)
UNCTAD, as the focal point within the United Nations system for the integrated treatment of trade and development and interrelated issues in the areas of finance, technology, investment and sustainable development, should continue its work through the three pillars, building on the Nairobi Maafikiano and based on the preceding policy analysis of the Bridgetown Covenant.
Therefore, UNCTAD should:
Provide technical guidance and promote sharing of best practices on the integration into regional and global value and supply chains, including by taking advantage of international air and maritime transport networks;
What is the Bridgetown Initiative?
Ahead of COP27, the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, announced the Bridgetown Initiative, a political agenda for reform of the global financial architec ture and development finance in the context of three intersecting global crises (debt, climate, and inflation).
The Bridgetown Initiative proposes the creation of new instruments and reform of existing institutions to finance climate resilience and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
