SUMMARY:Webinar on trade and biodiversity data to support the Kunming-Montr
 eal Global Biodiversity Framework
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB)\, the UN Trade and Deve
lopment (UNCTAD)’s BioTrade Initiative\, and Helvetas invite trade-biodi
versity related delegates to participate in the webinar on &#039\;Trade an
d Biodiversity data to support the KMGBF&#039\;.BackgroundBiodiversity is
at the center of many economic activities and directly supports the liveli
hoods of more than half the world’s population. Biodiversity-based resou
rces are also traded globally with more than half (55%) of the world’s g
ross domestic product (GDP) being dependent on nature to some extent.Howev
er\, trade data -particularly related to the trade biodiversity-based prod
ucts and services- is scattered\, not always comparable nor easily accessi
ble to all stakeholders. This affects decision-making not only at governme
nt level but also for businesses and civil society. To fill this gap\, UN T
rade and Development’s BioTrade Initiative and the Statistics developed
the Trade and Biodiversity (TraBio) Statistical Tool. It contains informat
ion on trade flows of biodiversity-based products and selected indicators
since 2010 for more than 185 economies for over 1\,800 biodiversity-based
products. This tool and the webinar are organized with support of the Swiss
State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO under the Global BioTrade Pro
gramme: Linking trade\, biodiversity and sustainable development. Objective
This hands-on training webinar on the TraBio Statistical Tool can allow go
vernments\, researchers\, and other stakeholders to:Obtain information use
ful for their country’s reporting or developing indicators under the Kun
ming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF)\,Define the importance
of trade of biodiversity-based products to a country’s economy or trade
\, such as its trade balance\, growth in exports and imports\, share of to
tal exports and the share of GDP\; andProvide relevant information for oth
er trade\, development\, and environmental processes. What will take place?
A one-hour webinar will be organized online considering the following prov
