CIGI Senior Fellow Darrell Bricker, who is the Global CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs and a leading pollster, and Fen Osler Hampson, Co-Director of the Global Commission on Internet Governance, will discuss the recent findings of a 2016 CIGI-Ipsos global survey of public attitudes in 24 nations towards data protection and privacy on the Internet.
The survey is unique and only the second of its kind every to have been conducted on such a global scale. The first CIGI-Ipsos survey was conducted in 2014.
Their findings will explore such questions as whether citizens believe that private companies and governments are doing enough to keep their personal informations secure and safe online, the extent to which citizens report that their own personal data has been compromised , and what they think governments and businesses should do to make them more secure when they go online.
National and regional variations in public attitudes towards online security and data privacy will be explored as will the broader implications of these findings for global e-commerce and data protection.
