Building upon the findings and recommendations of the Kenya eTrade Readiness Assessment, the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs (MoICT) and the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development (MoITED) with the support of the UNCTAD and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH have initiated work to develop a national E-commerce Strategy for Kenya in line with its vision of a digitally empowered citizenry, living in a digitally enabled society.
The e-commerce strategy will provide a strategic vision that aims to foster continued emergence of a robust domestic e-commerce ecosystem by identifying economic opportunities that are supportive of Kenya’s strategic development goals, including those contained in the country’s Vision 2030, the Digital Economy Blueprint, the National Information Communication and Technology Policy and other key policy documents.
The three-day retreat will bring together a core group of national stakeholders, UNCTAD and the British Standards Institution (an eTrade for all partner), to review and further develop the draft of an e-commerce strategy for Kenya.
